Book Tour
Hi everyone. First off, a quick heads up. Tobias Buckell, Karl Schroeder, and John Scalzi are doing a joint book tour. All three will be in Ann Arbor this Sunday, August 24th. It will be fun and you should try to attend. For more info, visit the author's respective websites on my links page on borlag.com. In movie news, the new Star Wars cartoon is out. Any thoughts on it? Any thoughts on George Lucas in general?

More Summer Movies
Hi everyone. I hope you are enjoying your summer. Did you get out to see Batman yet? Which did you like better, Batman or Ironman? A quick FYI, Doomsday is out on DVD. If you didn't catch it at the theaters, rent it. It's a crazy movie; part Mad Max, part Escape from New York. The film was directed by Neil Marshall, who is quickly becoming a horror icon. Also, Brad Meltzer has a new novel due in September, The Book of Lies. Brad will be making a Michigan book tour stop in September, so you might want to track him down. Also look for him on another episode of Cult Pop later this year.

Cheers!

Motor City Nightmares
Hi guys, happy 4th. Here's some random info...
A great website you might want to check out is www.entertheoctopus.wordpress.com. The site features some really great horror and sci-fi author interviews! For fans of sci-fi and horror toys and statues, check out www.amoktime.com .

Horror fans, a giant convention is heading to Novi, Michigan July 18th-20th feature a Night of the Living Dead reunion. It should be very cool. I hope to shoot some interviews there for Cult Pop. For more info visit www.motorcitynightmares.com. Two movies you need to rent: First, The Last Winter is a very good low budget horror movie that I really enjoyed. Not much in the CGI department but it was a good story. Now one of the worst movies I have ever rented; In the Name of the King. WOW is it bad, so bad you have to see it to believe it. An interesting point though. Ron Perlman pops up in both films.

Be careful with the fireworks this weekend!

The Oscars and Cult Pop
Congratulations to Tobias Buckell, finalist for the 2007 Nebula award for best novel for his book Ragamuffin.

I just caught the movie The Signal and really enjoyed it. It's a very inventive horror movie.

In response to Dennis, a fan of Midnight Creature Feature, Borlag is very much single. However, the possibility of baby Borlags roaming the universe does exist. He's a hit with the ladies. As far as advice or Borlagisms, Borlag cautions viewers to not swim in polluted lakes and agrees with Don King in that one should make every effort to avoid proprietors of Ratfinkism.

Enjoy the Oscars! I'm predicting No Country for Old Men will take best picture. And Don't forget to check out cult-pop.com. We have lots of great episodes posted.

New Books and Vandemeer Interview
Hi folks, just some quick hits.
Cherie Priest has a new novel out, Not Flesh For Feathers, and like her other books, it is a page turner. Also, Clive Barker just came out with a new novel. Currently I am reading a short story collection by Joe Hill and I can't say enough good things about him. Also, I had the opportunity to interview Jeff Vandemeer, author of Shriek an Afterword. Jeff's novels are incredible world and he was created an amazing world, Ambergris. Check out his book and watch the interview at www.cult-pop.com.
